Scroll below for information on my services.
One to one sessions are £15.00 per hour, and are delivered to compliment your current abilities or start you on your way to the wonderful world of constructing fabric creations. I can support you with a project you have already started or give advice on something you would like to try out. If you have no idea and just want to learn, we can follow the steps below and make a lined tote bag, working at your pace and adjusting as we go.
If you email, please check your spam/junk folder as I will always reply.
The sewing machine is provided (usually Janome MS2522 Limited Edition) if you prefer to use your own machine, please bring it along. If you decide to make a tote bag all the fabric, thread and accessories are included in the cost.
Step one: I will show you around the sewing machine so you are familiar with how it works and what bit does what and why. You can do some practice sewing with the different stitches available on the machine you are using. You will choose the fabric mix you would like to use to make your tote bag and have the choice of black or white calico for your bag lining, your bag will have a zipped patch pocket on the inside. Before any sewing you will plot out the patchwork design.
Step two: Time to start your patchwork construction, learn how to piece the squares together with precision, ironing as you go. As you bring your tote bag together you will be gaining skills, experience and the confidence to tackle bigger projects. Once your design is sewn together, and you are feeling comfortable with your sewing skills, you will tackle and complete inserting the zip in a patch pocket for the inside of your bag.
Step three: You will be well on the way to understanding the basics, adding handles to your tote and finishing off your first project with me.
I have lots of books that you can browse to choose your second project and I have a few examples on my gallery page, or your may have an idea of what you would like to take on next.
If you email, please check your spam/junk folder as I will always reply.
If you would like to buy someone a gift voucher for sewing sessions, I would suggest £30 (2hrs) to give the person an opportunity to come along and see if they enjoy the experience. Please give me a call so we can discuss how I will issue the voucher.
